Exquisitely hand finished jointed keepsake bears designed and hand crafted just for you by professional keepsake artist Jolene. With her expert skills, creative flair and years of experience in her art of keepsake bear making, precious memories are captured timelessly in these handsome characters she creates personally.
Jolene has an eye for detail and captures the very essence of the clothing she receives to work with, using the patterns, prints and texture of the fabrics to create the perfect keepsake.
Each keepsake is professionally embellished and hand finished using skilled hand embroidery techniques as well as modern machine embroidery and applique.
Jolene draws inspiration from the clothing itself "Every client sends me their chosen garments and they often tell me a little bit about the person that wore them, which can help greatly in my planning stage of creating the keepsake."
Working from her studio in the heart of Cheshire, close to the breathtakingly beautiful Peak District, Jo often enjoys the surrounding views on long walks with her family in her spare time.
Although self-taught in the art of bear making, Jolene reflects on her childhood with her Seamstress Mother never far from a sewing machine and learnt to sew from her at a very young age. Sewing has always been more of a second nature to Jo who has perfected her skills and learnt more advanced techniques over the years.
Jolene made her first bear entirely by hand in 2011 whilst living with her family in Northern Italy, just 30 minutes away from the beautiful city of Venice, "Once I had created my very first bear, I knew that this was what I wanted to do, I had to make more of these adorable characters! My work is constantly evolving as I discover new materials and techniques and I am never afraid to take on new challenges."
Jolene opened her keepsake business in 2012 with just her jointed bear design and was immediately innundated with orders for her bears. Since opening she has also designed a jointed bunny and elephant and added keepsake cushions and blankets to her portfolio of products to choose from. Because of the time her keepsakes take to make and the amount of craftsmanship that goes into them there has always been a waiting list for her work.
"I can only apologise for the wait but I am assured by my clients that they are worth waiting for!"
